Solid As A Rock

In an age where the term “keeping it real” couldn’t be further from the truth, the folks at indi label Rock Solid Entertainment (RSE) are on a mission to keep that dieing mantra alive. Based in Nashville, TN on the famed “Music Row,” Rock Solid is the brainchild of Pacoima, CA native / CEO, The General, who through hard work and an inquisitive nature became well versed in the ins and outs of the music business. “I started off as a DJ doing house parties and my uncle owned an independent record label out in Long Beach, so I learned a lot of what I know from him and my experiences,” he relays.

While Rock Solid has been in operation since the late 80’s, it legally became a label in 2000. Since then RSE has been busy developing their diverse stable of artists and producers in preparation of their introduction into the music stratosphere. “We’re trying to make the label a household name and show everybody that music really is universal. Our roster is so diverse. We have a mixture of people from everywhere. The PYG’s, Cali Active, and Ill Gates rep the west coast, TNT, Digga, and Caliber rep the south, Sweets and CJ Mac rep the east coast. I’m really just blessed to have stumbled across this type of talent,” expresses The General. Friend, fellow music lover, and LA Laker Gary Payton feels the same way. He’s been in the studio with the artists, fostered relationships with them, and their tracks are in constant rotation in his cd player. So, Gary is not just attached to the label in name only, but through the very love of the music these talented artists are creating.

It really is a family affair and that’s just the way The General likes it. “I can’t say that I’m the most qualified, but I can say I’m the most dedicated. I interact with these guys everyday, we have a friendship, we fiend for each other. I will always strive to keep a family atmosphere and keep us together, “he testifies.

By the time this goes to print RSE’s debut compilation album Gary Payton Presents: Rock Solid Entertainment New Breed will have already hit the music stores. Featuring a plethora of musical styles and sounds, there’s a little something something to whet even the most fickle music aficionado’s appetite.

From TNT’s “Take It Outside” to Sweets “Work For It,” and everything else in between, RSE can rest assured that longevity is apart of their very bright future.

Honesty, creativity, and strong family ties is what holds this camp together and is the same formula that will make their mark in the world rock steady.
