King and Thump Classic R&B continue to redefine the face
of music with a steady infusion of future classics.
Maintaining its allegiance to R&B flavored funk, the label
is releasing Ready For The World’s new CD She Said She Wants
Some, a stimulating serenade of heated seduction. Smooth
grooves, dreamy vocals and sex-laden lyrics drive She Said She
Wants Some with an undercurrent of fervent passion. Ladies
pace yourself and fellas take note, the ultimate boy band is
back with previously unreleased, feel-good throw back jams.
Ready For The World rumbled through the 80’s, snatching
hearts and capturing the imagination of young females. With a
lethal combination of naughty romance, hits like
“Tonight,” “Deep Inside Your Love,” “Oh Sheila,”
and “Love You Down,” still play torrid with driving
sensuality. The Flint, Michigan natives, consisting of lead
vocalist Melvin Riley, John Eaton on bass, Greg Potts on
keyboard, Gordon Strozier on lead guitar, Willie Triplett, Jr.
on percussion and Gerald Valentine on drums, were heartthrobs
personified.
Their fervor is revived on She Says She Wants Some. The
opener “Black-n-Mild” blazes the heat as the group word
plays cigar smoking with sex play. “Atomic Dogg Lover” is
a titillating cover of the funk classic that takes on new
meaning with the lyrics delivered slow, deliberate and
emphatic, as a female vocal poses the question “Why must you
chase my cat?” “Sticky Love” is honey we can hear, while
“What We Gonna Do About That” brings the drama with a tale
of lies and infidelity. A hypnotic back beat coupled with
Riley’s falsetto whip it on strong with “Can’t Nobody Do
You Like I Do.” “Ace-Boon-Coon” on the other hand is
unadulterated feel good vibin’.
Redefining sexy R&B, Ready For The World set a
precedent, preparing us for groups like Mint Condition and
Jodeci. With their new CD, throwback slow jams never rocked so
well. She Said She Wants Some and you will to!
