February's model of the month is none other than Lea
Jonet'. This Chicago native is well on her way to becoming the "Super Model of the Year" that she aspires to be. I didn't make this up; you can check her resume and see just how busy she's been. From centerfold features in Urban Style Magazine, to struts down the runway, to Infiniti Q45 commercials, to R. Kelly videos, believe me when I say that there is nothing that this girl can't do.
The funny thing is that this former tomboy didn't grow up wanting to be a supermodel it just sort of happened by chance. "I went to Charm School at the age of 16 because my mom wanted me to walk like a girl, act like a girl, pull my pants up (they were baggy and hanging) and stop slouching. After the make-up classes, dress-up sessions, mock fashion shows, and learning about opportunities in modeling, I knew that this was my path" she adds.
Looking to gain as much knowledge about the modeling business as she could she read the Tyra Banks Book, watched MTV's Fashionably Loud Model Search over 50 times, studied high-fashion magazines and networked with great photographers. "Researching anything related to this industry has helped shape me into what I am today. Those things gave me direction and helped me find my own style, identity and look", says the young beauty.
For the past three months she has literally been living in hotels and out of suitcases. As a result of such dedication you can expect to see her face in Black Sophisticate's Hair Magazine, Black Men's Magazine, as leading lady in a music video for Johnny P, Hooters Girl Calendars, Billboards, Commercials, etc. "I can honestly do whatever I put my mind to but my focus right now is television commercials, sitcom appearances, and feature film roles" she states.
With a schedule as hectic as Lea Jonet's there is not really much time for hobbies. "One of my hobbies has become SLEEP. It is a luxury in this business and I attempt to get it whenever possible". However when there is free time she likes to just chill and play internet word games, table top Scrabble, and going to the movies or a fine restuarant.
When asked what she thought her proudest professional moment was she simply replied, "Wow, there are so many of those. I thought it was when I first appeared on television, then I thought it was my first major fashion show, then it was my first magazine/print assignment, or was it my first autograph? Hmmm....I would have to say every major accomplishment is my proudest moment and I'm sure there are more to come"!
